Intercultural Mentoring: We are delighted at the registrations of more than 150 international students who registered as mentees

A colorful mixture of international students from all corners of the world enriches our intercultural mentoring program and we look very much forward to welcoming all our mentees personally.

All mentees come from different countries, they are new in Freiburg and for the some of them it is probably the first time here in Germany. It is quite understandable that they probably have a lot of questions. As it is our wish that their start in Freiburg and at the university goes as smoothly as possible, we match them with experienced students (mentors) from all faculties who support them on a personal, professional and social basis for one term. That way, each mentee has a contact person who knows about the culture and organization in Freiburg. Most of the mentors and mentees have already been matched in one-to-one- or group mentoring relationships and the mentees have already been able to clarify first questions via email. Some mentors participating experienced the same situation the mentees are about to live through and they are willing and able to answer the mentees’ questions. The mentees can ask all kind of questions, whether they are related to schedule, housing, exams, leisure activities… Some of the mentors participated as mentees last year and are now passing on their experience as mentors. One thing they have in common: They are all eager to getting to know their mentees and look very much forward to seeing each other at the kick-off event on 17^th October 2019 where all participants meet personally and which is the official start of the mentoring relationship.
