Become an ICM Mentee

Who can be a mentee?
All international students who start their studies in Freiburg can be a mentee.
Benefits for mentees
By becoming a mentee, you'll be starting your uni experience on the right foot. A mentor will be assigned to you according to subject of study (if possible) to provide you with regular support and advice.
Benefits include:
- A personal contact who can help you understand the culture around student life and living in Germany to quickly settle down in Freiburg
- Support with information for everyday issues. E.g. buying tram tickets, where to get your uni card
- Expanding your social network by meeting with German and international students from all over the world
- Insight into the structure of the university
- The opportunity to take part in additional workshops hosted by ICM to develop your intercultural, communicative and social competences
- The opportunity to take part in inspiring and fun social events
- Enhancement of your CV with a certificate recognizing successful participation as a mentee
Requirements for mentees
- Meet face-to-face at least four times with your mentor during the semester
- Attend the mentee workshop, kick-off event, and closing event
- Be reliable and on time when meeting with your mentor and prepare your own topics in advance
- Be open to share your cultural experiences with others
- Complete the final reflection at the end of the semester
